Moon River, a significant, early 20th century home in Snedens Landing, a historic district, 25 minutes from NYC. Approaching the home, one feels relaxed, passing by many 18th and 19th century homes, before turning onto Corbett Lane, a private passageway, with a dense, natural hillside on the west side of the road, and only three other homes on the east side, providing complete privacy. This home is situated on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, and features a private, sandy beach and a beautiful meadow with a windy trail between the house and water.

Moon River, is a destination. A waterfront lifestyle. Architecturally, the home is significant with an extraordinary great room, with 16ft ceilings, grand moldings, five 10ft French doors, classic hardware, antique, wide board paneling, beamed ceiling and two period fireplace mantels. Off the great room is a very large screened in porch, also with 16ft ceilings with eight skylines facing south, that keeps the room sunny all day. There's a very large, solarium, with windows on three sides, that faces the Hudson River, and features classic, Mediterranean tiles floor. The home's stairwell features thick, solid, cedar stair treads, carved from trees that grow on the property, and old-style balustrades, from a bygone era. 'Moon River' signifies the first night there's a full moon on the Hudson, after the forsythia bloom, where according to legend, the shads run plentiful in the Hudson, and fisherman set their nets, supported by long poles, in the river to catch them. This tradition was practiced at this property for many years, as the original owner recalls in one of the many books written about this fairytale place, once called Brigadoon, by The NY Times. The property also features an inground pool with a pergola with another screened-in porch overlooking the river and pool, and an oversized garage with a large gravel parking parking area.

Corbett Lane is not a through street. Snedens Landing is a neighborhood, and part of Palisades, NY. It is surrounded by a 500+ acre park on the North end, and a 2,500 acre park on the south side, and the Hudson River on the east side. There are numerous walking trails from the home. The charming, historic riverfront village of Piermont, with many restaurants, shops and marinas, is only five minutes away. The Snedens Landing Tennis Association, tennis court, is open for residents only, for a small fee. Nothing compares.
